Top 17 Ways to Cut your Prescription Drug Costs

Low wage workers who cannot qualify for state programs such as Medicaid, are unable to obtain health insurance through employment and cannot afford to obtain health insurance on their own account for about 56% of the uninsured population.  Families with incomes below 250% of the Federal Poverty Level are most at risk for being uninsured or underinsured.

Fortunately, there are programs available to help these people.  We have compiled a list of these programs on our helpful links page.

This webpage, however, is dedicated to prescription assistance.  Erickson Financial Services has partnered with MedPro, a fee for service organization, dedicated to helping those in need obtain affordable prescription medications.  MedPro's mission statement is as follows:

MEDPro provides the highest standard of administrative services for our clients. We are committed to assuring that our clients have the access to medications from Prescription Assistance Programs and other available programs to help those without prescription drug coverage or have limited prescription drug coverage. We provide a professional service based on values of honesty, integrity and commitment to performance which are the foundation for delivering exceptional customer service. MEDPro is a mission driven, fee for service organization. We rely on those fees to make our processing service available to uninsured and under insured Americans and their families. Part of the fee goes into community programs to support of the needs of the uninsured and those in special circumstances. MEDPro is not subsidized by any local, state or federal government programs. MEDPro is not affiliated with any Pharmaceutical Company. Prescription Assistance Programs alone cannot solve all the problems facing the uninsured but it can help ease the financial burden many face with the high cost of prescription medications. At MEDPro, we are doing more than just wishing or dreaming of a better life for the uninsured, we are rolling up our sleeves, getting involved, finding out the options and making a real difference in the lives of many people.

Why you should consider using MedPro rather than trying to do it yourself

  • There is absolutely no fee to find out if you are eligible or to find out how much money MedPro can help you save.
  • You will speak personally with a MedPro representative on a one on one basis to determine your potential savings before you are ever asked to make a commitment to enrolling or paying an initial enrollment fee.  MedPro is a private, fee for service organization, charging a one-time enrollment fee and a small administrative fee per prescription per month once you are set up on the program(s), but you don't pay any fees, until AFTER you have been shown how much their services can help you save and until AFTER you have agreed to enroll based on the information that you have been given.
  • MedPro is a professional organization committed to the values of honesty and integrity.  They have made it their mission to take information about patient assistance programs to the local communities and then go one step further by getting involved, finding out the options and making a real difference in the lives of many people.

Although you can apply for patient assistance programs for free, only a small percentage of those who apply on their own ever receive a medication through the progam(s).  This is due to the difficulty involved in completing the required paperwork, confusing forms and redtape.  MedPro's staff has years of experience and expertise, they are familiar with the required processes, and they offer the following services:

  • MedPro checks the appropriate drug manufacturers upfront for availability and requirements
  • MedPro completes the paperwork & submits your application(s)
  • MedPro acts as a client/patient advocate
  • MedPro forwards to the doctor for verification of prescription(s) information and signature
  • MedPro tracks the status of your application & resolves any problems that arise
  • MedPro will file appeals for you if necessary
  • MedPro orders your refills for you
  • Here is a list of drugs and manufacturers if you would like to investigate your options on your own.

Click here to find out if you are eligible for prescription assistance - Simply complete the online form, and a representative from MedPro will contact you as soon as possible.

Note:  MedPro is unable to help you with generic prescriptions that are available from Walmart's $4 prescription drug list.  Please check this list first, before contacting us.  If any of your prescriptions are on this list, please do not include them on your eligibility form.  MedPro cannot obtain a better price for you than Walmart can on these prescriptions.
